As trinitarian people of God, we believe in the same way that the Father sent the Son to the world for redemption. The Father and the Son sent the Holy Spirit to sustain us until Christ comes again. So likewise, our trinitarian God sends us all, as God’s people, to the world to be active participants in God’s redemption mission–we are a missional people.
As United Methodists, we have a robust missional presence worldwide. In this video, Roland Fernandes, General Secretary of Global Ministries and UMCOR explains how we live out our call to be a missional people of God.
Here, we can also learn about how we live out our call to be a missional people of God here in the North Carolina Conference.
In the Heritage district, we live our call to be a missional people of God in many ways: food pantries, school feeding programs, bag pack deliveries, disaster response ministries, scholarships, and many other ways.
Now, there are many other ways in which we can offer signs of our missional nature. Our call is to be instruments of redemption to others. Our call is to be instruments of love to others. Our call is to be instruments of freedom to others. Our call is to be instruments of unity.
Almighty God, help us to be the kind of missional people that this world needs. In the name of our trinitarian God, we pray, Amen.
