Are you getting settled in from a recent move? If you are a clergy person, chances are you’re no stranger to the boxes, tape, packing material, and all the other stuff we accumulate when preparing to move. And once you do get settled in, there’s the question: What do I do with all of this stuff now? Do I save it for next time? Do I recycle as much as I can, and worry about getting more boxes when the time comes?
Your Heritage District Creation Care team wants to help make clergy moving more environmentally friendly. To do that, we need your help. Our goal is to compile a list of clergy who have moving materials – boxes, tape, packing material, you name it – that they would be willing to lend or give to their fellow clergy when they are preparing to move.
If you’d like to contribute to this list, simply email jdye@nccumc.org and let me know what moving materials you have, and your general location in the district. Then, as moving season approaches, this list will be made available to clergy throughout our district. This sharing and reusing of resources has the opportunity to drastically cut down on the waste generated from clergy moves each year.
To go along with this list, the district team will also be putting together a list of more environmentally friendly moving products for the items that clergy do have to buy new during their move.
