This week I would like to highlight three important themes. The first one is “Pastor’s Appreciation Sunday,” which took place last Sunday. Bishop Fairley sent a message last week encouraging congregations to express their gratitude to their pastors, here there is a link for ideas on how to do it, in case you have not done it yet. There are so many unseen ways in which your pastors seek to serve you and support you in your spiritual journey, so do not miss this opportunity to bless your pastors and let them know how much you appreciate them.
The second one is an invitation to explore the meaning of Hispanic Heritage Month, which is from September 15th through October 15th. Here is a link to an article that a good friend of mine wrote for the occasion. As I have mentioned in previous messages, any opportunity to learn from other cultures and peoples, it is also an opportunity to learn about aspect of who God is and expand our understanding of God’s creation. Again, I hope you don’t miss the opportunity to expand your imagination and appreciation of your neighbor. In fact, one way to celebrate this year is by supporting La Estrella Resplandeciente Ministry, which is a ministry that is located and has been supported by our district for more than 15 years. Volunteers and financial gifts will be really appreciated.
The third theme is an invitation to celebrate Laity Sunday on October 17. Here is an idea to celebrate this year. Lay leadership in short, is “Christian Love in Action.” Do not miss the opportunity to say thank you to those who have been exemplars of love in action in your church or community.
